First of all, I love the idea of this forum. I think it is easy to lose sight of the positive, so it's important to write it down.

I have a wonderful husband in many respects, but I really want to share this particular situation. In looking for housing in NJ for Dave to finish his 3rd and 4th year of school there, we were having no luck finding a place that would take our dog. We were also having a terrible time finding a place that we could afford well enough for us to proceed with our plan of having a child in the next 2 years. I started to get more anxious about it, feeling like maybe he was wanting to give up the dog (send him to his mother) and put off having a baby for 2 more years. As we were finally able to sit down and rationally talk about the situation, he was very adamant that he did not want to have to give up our dog (we've had him for 7 years) or put off having a child for 2 more years. He was even willing to change to a different rotation site that would be easier on us financially. He kept saying that we had both already sacrificed a great deal for him to go to medical school and to move to NJ would require giving up too much.

I shouldn't have expected any differently from him, but somehow I did. I guess I just know how all-consuming it can be to make the right decisions in medicine and I was afraid his need for doing his 3rd and 4th years at a major medical center vs. a community medical center would win over reality. Thankfully, reality kicked in & we are having to give up anything.

What a good husband I have!

This is sort of along those lines.....today we went to Office Depot to look for desks for each of us...we each found ones that we really loved, but we didn't have enough money this month to buy them both. I took the kids to the car so that Thomas could pay for his desk and when he came out he showed me the receipt...he had bought me mine first....and I am thankful for his thoughfulness....for putting me first when in all actuality having started work today, he should have taken the first desk.

Sounds like things with you and Thomas are definitely getting better. Congrats on the new desk.
