  • New Family Tradition....

We have started a family gratitude kind of a journal....I am sitting down with the kids each night writing about the "fun" parts of the day....leaving spaces for pics to be developed, etc....where appropriate...It is neat hearing the kids perspective on the "good" parts of the day! I guess it's a bit like a scrapbook in a way...but the narrative is quite fun!

    Thought I'd share our idea....

What a great idea! My best friend's mom kept a journal of their daily events starting from the beginning of their marriage. Often the entries were very brief and included ordinary happenings like: Susie said the word "water" for the first time or Hugh won his soccer game and we had his friend over for ice cream. These journals recorded the events of this family for over thirty years. When her mom died unexpectedly, these journals kept the family focused on the good times and helped to remember to celebrate her rather than mourn her. Besides focusing on the gifts that we have today, this type of journal will serve as a family heirloom. I've tried to start one for our family, but gaps of several months have crept by. It is really nice to go back and read some of the entries and see where we have been.

This is a great idea! It's something the children can look back at later on and recall all the great childhood memories with Mom and Dad.
