    Tiger Beat

    >> You learned everything you needed to know about girl issues from
    Judy
    >> Blume books (Are you there God, It's me, Margaret.)
I love Judy Blume...my daughter has read her too.

    >> You thought Olivia Newton John's song "Physical" was about aerobics.
I have a picture of me singing this song in our kitchen using a fake microphone and I totally thought it was about getting physically fit. I'm going to dig up that picture and post it.

    >> You wore friendship pins on your tennis shoes,
And the shoes had to be Tretorns....does anyone remember those?

OMG, Sally...this was so fun! I must have needed a fun walk down memory lane...I am sooo going to dig up that "Physical" picture of me. My mom thought it was so funny.

Even funnier....when I was right about the same age, my dad and I were also really into Charley Pride....and my mom said that I sang the song "I'm having daydreams about night things in the middle of the afternoon" for show and tell and that my teacher made me sing it in the teacher's lounge because she thought it was so funny...

I'm having daydreams about night things in the middle of the afternoon
And while my hands make a living my mind's home loving you
I'm having daydreams about night things in the middle of the afternoon
And every night you make my dreams come true.

          This is SO TRUE!!!!

I only said "nope" to about two things on this!

I had braids just like Laura on "Little House" and my dad kind of looked like Michael Landon.

I was born in '78, but I think some of things things hold true for those of us who grew up in the '80s. I think we had plastic lunchboxes though... And legwarmers!!!

I was born in 1977 so a little of this is me. cute sally!!

You had that Fisher Price Doctor 's Kit with a stethoscope that
                actually worked.
oh yeah! we used it all the time!

You owned a bicycle with a banana seat and a plastic basket with
                flowers on it.
red with a blue salvaged seat.

You owned a "Slip-n-Slide",on which you injured yourself on a
                sprinkler head more than once.
we used a piece of clear plastic from a big roll we had in the garage!

You spent hours in your backyard on your metal swing set with the
                trapeze.
The swing set tipped over at least once.
                at least once!

You had homemade ribbon barrettes in every imaginable color. (Oh
                yeah!)
oh, they were so pretty....at the time.

You had a pair of Doctor Scholl's sandals (the ones with hard sole &
                the buckle).
are you kidding me??? they were my favorite shoes EVER I had the blue strap and the red.

You wanted to be Laura Ingalls Wilder really bad; you wore that
LittleHouse on the Prairie-inspired plaid, ruffle shirt with the high neck
in at least one school picture; and you despised Nellie Olson!
never wore the shirt, but always wanted to be her.

You know who Strawberry Shortcake is, as well as her friends,
                Blueberry Muffin and Huckleberry Pie.
i still have my shortcake doll

You carried a Muppets lunch box to school and it was metal, not plastic.
                With the thermos inside!
oh yeah! i was cool! little did i know, the "cool" kids bought their lunch.

You tried to do lots of arts and crafts, like yarn and
                Popsicle-stick
God's eyes, decoupage, or those weird potholders made on a plastic
                loom
                .

i actually think my family members got sick of getting pot holders as gifts

You used to tape record songs off the radio by holding your portable
tape player up to the speaker.
what? im not the only one who did this???

You wore friendship pins on your tennis shoes, or shoelaces with
                heart or rainbow designs.
                yup!

you glopped your lips in Strawberry Roll-on lip gloss till it
                almost dripped off.
still do. but with chapstick now.

                  I love these!

I had moonboots and several Muppets lunch boxes. I wish I still had the Pigs in Space lunch box. It was my all time favorite.

I loved Little House on the Prairie, both the show and books. I read the entire series over the winter of 2nd grade. I don't hear it so much now, but in my late teens and early 20s, people would say I look like Melissa Gilbert. Thank goodness I don't look like Nellie Olson. I was so pissed that she had the same name as me. In case you are wondering what she is up to now:
                  http://www.hgd.com/alison/

How many of those God's eyes things did I make?

This one fits for me a lot more than the "child of the 80s" one.
