  • HE MATCHED!

Okay, Just got word that he matched in Richmond, VA.... Don't know whether to be excited or dissapointed. I guess I'm just glad that he matched and did not have to scramble for a spot. Is anyone from this area who can offer advice?
We are both from New Orleans and are moving to pursue our careers.I will be in NY, so I am hoping that it won't be sooooo crazy to see each other. The next few weeks are going to be big for discussing future plans about where our relationship will go. There is just so much uncertainty about sacrificing so much when we have not even talked about marriage etc. It is going to be even more difficult since we will not be living in the same area. I know I am going to have to try and stay sane through all this... AHH! As much as you think you can handle it, it always seems to bite you in the butt.
Also, do you think that we would be able to maintain a healthy relationship while he is in residency in VA and I'm being a workaholic in NY? Would getting a job in VA be a big NO since we are not married, or would it be better for me to stay put in NY? Ah....... Hope to hear from you all.
Thanks again for the support! I need it..

Kristen, I personally think intern year would be a great time for you to stay in NY. After that I think you have to kind of decide what his schedule allows. If you are at a distance he can plan vacations and you can truly enjoy your time with each other, if you move because of him you could resent his intern year demands on his time.

Congrats on matching and good luck with the changes ahead!

        Congrats-

Actually, it's not a bad train ride from Richmond to NYC. You'll change trains in DC.

or meet in DC or Philly if there's time. (there won't be but you at least will have some time off!)

          Good luck to you!
I don't think LD makes or breaks a relationship. You'll survive the distance. The less time there was for dh and me (while we were LD), the less we argued! :>
