  • New to this Site :)

Hi, my name is Kimi, i am married to a first semester med student. And we have a soon to be 3 yr old daughter. We're currently living in Saba, which is located in the Netherlands, Antilles. We'll be here for another 18 months or so, i believe.

But we're originally from Connecticut, USA.

I miss home very much. But being here on the island takes alot of adapting to. So far I've made 2 good friends here. Both who have spouses who attend the same med school as my husband.

One of them, Cristina, who is the one who showed me this site, is also a member here. She's such a wonderful person! And i am so glad that she shared this forum with me. She tells me many good things about it.

And i hope to get to know many wonderful people here too!

I guess that's all for now.

        Welcome aboard.

and a warning about tropical isles...we've been threatening to set up a meeting there so you and Cristina may have more of us than you've bargained for some day!

Welcome...I'd call dibs on staying @ Cristina's ...except after seeing the photo of the Giant lizzard :horror: that crawls on her house trying to get in...well I just don't know!

Did Cristina forget to mention the many goats that tries to eat her plants in the front of her place...?

Yes, there are lots of types of lizards running around here trying to get into places. My daughter, Sakura is terrified of them... And i guess i am too.
But they mostly keep to themselves. It's just startling when your cooking something and all of a sudden one runs down the ceiling and darts back up the ceiling...

It would be great to meet people from this forum, if you love hot weather, and beautiful scenery, then this place is for you. Oh and if you love to swim and snorkel. I can't swim at all... but that doesn't stop me from enjoying the beaches.

I've tried not to scare them too much. Don't come here if you can't handle the heat, if you can't stand bugs or reptiles, if you are dependant on modern appliances, or if you have a fear of heights. Well, what do you know, that sounds just like me. :P

Oh, the goats did eat an entire bushy plant but they're so cute that I can't be upset with them. The little lizards on the other hand have been blacklisted ever since I learned that they poop in my kitchen. Now where's that ing icon?

hi and welcome. glad you were led here by cristina.

i will NOT be taking any of you up on a "tropical paradise vacation" any time soon. i hate islands.

                  see you around!

You know, some people here will tell you it's humid. I think it's nothing compared to Maryland humidity.

Well, I say there are three options:

                        A. Maryland humidity is really bad.
                        B. I just don't notice the humidity here anymore. But I doubt it because I always complained back in Maryland.
                        C. It's breezier here because the whole island is a steep rock in the middle of the ocean. My bet is on this last option.

Well atleast at night time, there's a nice cool breeze, but during the day, it's not humid, i don't think. But it can get really hot here. But that's what the A/C is for right?

I love, love, love the beach BUT the lizards would be a deal-breaker for me! I hate lizards outside... I have never even imagined them coming inside the house! Yeck! If I lived there, I'd have to have 10 cats!
