I don't have enough posts yet to qualify for the correct boards, so I am posting here...
DH is in his 3rd year of school and needs to select an advisor by the end of the month. We are looking for some advice from those in either Radiology or Path residencies (or practicing docs).
What type of Step 1 scores are needed for Radiology? Basicially, his Step 1 scores are good enough that he should be able to choose the Path program he wants, but our understanding is that Rad is a bit more competitive. Is this the case?
If he doesn't match on Rad - what is the scramble process like?
He is a lab rat, but would really like to be able to do some volunteer clinical work (either here and/or abroad) and the PGY1 required by Rad should allow him to do at least something.
Also, since we intend for me to take the SAH route once he starts residency, the salary and cost of living in the area needs to be reasonable.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
