  • Hello..I just wanted to introduce myself!

    Hello,

This board is great! My husband is finishing his 1rst year of med school. We both just turned 25. We have 2 boys, ages 6 months, and 4 years old. Married for a little over 5 years. I am an RN and working in Maternity, and working on getting certified as a Midwife. Anyway, that's it about me.

    Yoda (dh's nickname for me..lol )

    Great nickname!!!!

Welcome to the board. I am Robin and my hubby is doing his internship year here in San Antonio. We have 4 boys and they keep us hopping.

I think it is awesome that you want to be a midwife. If I ever decided to go into the medical field, I would work in maternity. Babies are wonderful.

    Again welcome ....
    Robin

      Hey Robin

      Wow,

You must be busy with 4 boys. I seem to have my hands with the 2...oops 3 with my husband..lol. How old are your 4? Are you a SAHM? RIght now I am a SAHM. I took a leave of absence from the hospital until June ( I was working part-time evenings), and the classes for my cert in midwifery, I am taking are online, so it's nice to be home. There are days tho, where I would rather give someone else the responsibility of mom & med students wife. Anyway, nice to meet you. 8)

        Welcome Yoda!

We have lots of SAHMs here- and lots of moms who work from home so you're in good company. I am neither- a mom or someone who works from home!

I'm Jenn, the spouse to a third year peds resident and I am also the director for a company that runs group homes for adults with developmental disabilities. (and right now I have three cats and one dog but just brought in a litter of kittens and their mom so we're at 10 cats and one dog- but hopefully only until I can get them all to the no-kill shelter!)

        Welcome-

        Jenn

            nice meeting all of you

jloreine...wow. you must be able to see the light at the end of this seemingly dark tunnel..lol. Sounds like you have a bunch of animals taking up your time. It's great to meet you and hope to talk with you again soon.

Luanne...thanks for posting. How do you like ER nursing and endoscopy? I have always been in maternity nursing (L&D, Postpartum, Nursery, Extra-Care Nursery), except for a private home care job I did part time last year for a vent patient. I enjoyed that too and the independence, but when we moved to go to med school, I had to leave that position. I guess maternity is my first love when it comes to nursing..I love the teaching and just the experience of it all. How long has your dh been a Pulmonologist? Did you go through med school, & residency with him? Anyways, its nice meeting you. I'll see you on here soon I'm sure!

              Hi Yoda!

My boyfriend is also in his first year of med school. His mother was a maternity nurse for a number of years (now she's neonatal, I believe) and it really seems like a very rewarding profession.

Welcome aboard--looking forward to hearing more from you.

                Hi Yoda, Welcome

                I'm glad you found us.

My name is Dures and I"m relatively new to the Board (about 3 weeks), too. I'm currently in a long distance relationship with Jay, who is a 4th year med student in PA. I'm in CA (born & raised) pursuing my career in investment analytics and going to school at night for my MBA in Finance & Mktg.

Jay's in the midst of interviewing for residencies now. He hopes to go into Neurology (Pediatric). I met Jay right after he finished his 1st year of med school, but from what he tells me about 1st year, it was very, very tough. I commend you for holding down the "fort" and going to school also, while your husband goes to school.

I look forward to getting to know you better

                Take care.

                Dures
