  • New from Michigan

Hi everyone. I am married to a PGY-1 urology resident who is in the midst of his internship in general surgery. To be perfectly honest, I was - pleasantly - surprised to see that there are this many other people going through the same things that I am! We were married just before his 3rd year of medical school, and although we made it through med school OK, I guess I didn't realize how much more difficult and demanding residency would be!! I was definitely glad to stumble across this site, and hope that I get to know some of you.

Us too! We got married a week before 3rd year started, and felt relieved when we got through it. It was nothing compared to residency though.
So I guess we'll be triple relieved when this is over, huh?
I think a sabbatical is in order after residency. Has anybody done this, or does everybody rush off to work so they can make enough money to pay back loans?
Anyway, glad to meet you. Feel free to vent.

Well- a sabbatical...hmmmm. We HAD to be in San Antonio for the first day of residency which began July 1. That said- he graduated May 20. So, he graduated, we got married, we drove from DC to SA and I was back at work that following Monday. My beloved, however, had a month off to play. This time- I'mgetting the month off between moves!

Welcome MIgirl! The best part about internship is that it does come to an end!

        Glad to meet you.

Hi MIGirl- Glad to meet you. Where in Michigan are you? I grew up in the East Lansing area, but moved to Ohio for my husband's fellowship in neonatology.

This is a great place for friendship and support!
