Re: Hello from Texas --Anesthesia Resident Spouse

Born and raised in Texas. My hubby was just at Childrens in Dallas for a month. We are in Lubbock...
born in Houston, raised in the hill country...parents in San Antonio, Burnet and San Marcos. We love Texas and may end up here in the end, but want to take advantage and see/live in other parts of the US. Who knows where we will be next. My hubby and I spoke today about how we would probably have at least 3-4 more moves before settling...(big sigh)...

    Thanks for the welcomes!!!

Welcome to the group! I'm one of the Texas gals Jen was talking about. I'm from the Ft. Worth area, but have been away from for nearly 4 years now. Good luck with those applications!! When do you find out where he matches?

Oh, and hang around here. These ladies and guys are the best!

Re: Hello from Texas --Anesthesia Resident Spouse

Hello I am so glad you are on here as I have lots of questions for you. I am married to a M3 - anesthesiolgy path. We are starting to look at the residencies and complile a list. We live in TN with all of our family within a day driving and we would love to stay that close so we are looking at programs from Texas - Georgia and between Mississippi -Maryland. I would love to know if you have any information about any of the programs in that area as well as your experience.

This request goes to all you other anesthesia wives! I would love all input you guys have. None of our other friends are going this route so I have nothing to start with.

I look forward to hearing from any and hopefully all of you.

                Manda

Thanks again and Welcome to the Forums after all we are all in the same muck!

Re: Hello from Texas --Anesthesia Resident Spouse

DH went to medical school at UTSW in Dallas. Dallas is a fun city, and if you're thinking of buying a house, Texas is a fairly safe bet. The program there is tough, but he'll learn a lot and probably have a lot of great opportunities after residency.

We are in Oklahoma City for DH's residency. (Not sure how long of a drive it is to TN from here.) It's really nice so far - they have more of a transition year (in a private hospital) than a general medicine internship, so it hasn't been bad so far. Next year, when he's a CA1, he'll start getting the traditional residency experience. It is pretty nice knowing that he'll only have 3 sucky residency years instead of 4.
