    Well hi, everybody...

Here I sit bawling reading the truths in the Dawkter's Wife posts, etc. AGH!!

There are so few people in my real life who can even begin to comprehend the frustration I have with being responsible for "everything else" and not having a clue about how to fix any of our issues because he's not even around to participate in the fixing of them! Reading parenting advice where they suggest having Daddy bring the kid to bed a few nights in a row if they're throwing a fit for Mommy- things like that just drive me insane...

My DH is an anesthesiologist/intensivist/researcher at a university clinic (we're 6 years post-residency so thank goodness at least the money problems have gotten better) and I'm a SAHM to our girls who are 8, 3, and 2... We have no relatives nearby, it's all me- 4 school runs a day, food, laundry, house, appts. I feel like it'll do me in some days. And he doesn't see that, get that, or validate that I've been on call every single day for the last 8 years, because I'm "only" dealing with minor things like ing toddlers and homework help while I'm trying to cook supper and get the little one to bed.

Anyway, hello to you all and thanks for listening... I'm sure I'll be back soon because just reading things here was incredibly comforting.

    Jenn

Welcome, Jenn. I'm so sorry. As someone else here so astutely commented a while ago, no one ever Googles "medical spouse support" because things are going well. Hang in there.

Are you currently in Portland, OR? Hence, the PDX in your username? There are a lot of us NWer's (past and present) bumping around here.

          Hi!

It looks like you're in Portland; we are, too. My DH is a pediatric urologist at Emanuel. He operates with some of the anesthesiologists who rotate from OHSU, so perhaps your DH and my DH have worked together!

Please feel free to PM me any time. I have lived here my entire life and can help you out with anything you need here in Portland. I'm also a busy mom, so I can completely relate to the frenzied lifestyle.

          Take care!

Welcome! You will find that we have all BTDT. We can't fix it....but we can commiserate. Please post often. It's good to have an attending spouse newbie for a change. (Says the old bitter battle axe iMSN vet!)
