We've been together since he was a new med student, now 6 years into attendinghood, and I agree, it's SLOW going working out some of those recurring issues. I think sometimes we're still chewing on newlywed stuff because we haven't gotten around to it yet since good discussions require both partners to be around AND awake at the same time!

    Welcome!

Welcome!! I know from my perspective (ms3 spouse) it is wonderful to have all the veterans you can!! It is just amazing the support they have been able to give and I think my marriage has benefited from it. I now know it is okay to have a "what the hell are we doing here" kinda day! Everyone on this site is wonderful, and I don't know what I would do without every single one of them!

        Hi! Welcome!!

Out of training here too. Found this wondersful site made of even more wonderful people back when DH began PGY2 (out of 6) and now are 2 years out. Some things have changed for the better since I got to concentrate on my career after training and DH was finally able to take on more household responsibility. However, I totally agree with you about certain things/behaviors remaining the same. I hope you post often so we can get to know you better!!
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

Welcome, Lynn! We like to joke that after training it's all about maids, pool boys, champagne, and bon-bons. My husband finished in 2000 and our kids are 5 yo son, 3 yo daughter (almost 4) and two 3 yo daughters (turned 3 a month ago - they are surviving triplets born at 31 weeks, hence the 10.5 month age difference with their older sister)

My DH works in anesthesia and is the dept chair. (Read: lots of stupid meetings that interfere with dinner time!!!) I missed the residency train, thank God, but from what I see attending hours aren't much better. It is definitely not easy life. Easy financially, yes, but money doesn't mean much when your kids are clamoring for dad because he hasn't gotten home before bedtime 3 nights in a row.

Glad to have you here, and I hope to get to know you better. Post often.

Gosh, I forgot to check back in! My husband is in family practice. We live in Iowa, and got married between 1st and 2nd year of medical school. We have 2 kids, 16 and 12, and it's great to see them coming in to their own. Glad we didn't have children during training years.

                        Thanks for the warm welcome!
