  • Busting out of lurkdom

First of all, thanks to Kris for getting me set up!

My name is Christina, I'm 31 and my anesthesiologist hubby(Kevin) is 32. No kids yet(but trying), but we are the proud parents of two dogs and four cats.

I left my job last year working for orthopedic surgeons to go back to school and be a doc myself. 8O Currently retaking all the pre-reqs and am going to finally finish that dang degree.

    I love this site!

    Dagny,

Welcome out of lurkdom...the first step to recovery is joining up! Seriously, good for you for following your dreams and going for that degree. We have a few members who are contemplating the whole medical field question themselves. Welcome aboard.

      Welcome Christina,

That is great that you are going back to school. My hubby is an intern counting down the months until he finishes to start his anesthesia residency. We have four boys, a dog and 2 hamsters!

Looking forward to getting to know you better!

OK...trying this again...I hate getting kicked off!

Thanks for the welcome, guys. It's nice to be on a board where others know what it's like to be the spouse of a doc.

          Robin -
My husband initially matched in IM and loathed it. The one thing he did like was working in critical care and the "immediacy" of it. Fortunately for him, anesthesia residencies were going largely unfilled at the time so he switched right in. He says that anesthesia is like having your own mini-ICU on the OR. He loves his job and can't imagine doing anything else. I wish your husband luck. It seems to be a more benign residency, as opposed to some other specialties - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
