  • Hi all!

Just wanted to take a minute and introduce myself! My name is Alicia and my husband is an MS1. He decided to quit his job and return to school when I was 8 months pregnant with my daughter who is now 2. I also have a son who was born with Craniosynostosis back in June of 2009. So my husband had to endure a horrific surgery with the possibility of losing his son while adjusting to his first semester as a medical student. I have also had to deal with having a new baby, adjusting to 2 kids, going through this entire ordeal with my son and losing just about every single minute spent with my husband! Needless to say, it's been tough. I joined this group for some support and to see how everyone else deals. As much as I want these four years to fly by, I really hope that they don't in a way. I must also mention that I stay home with my children and as much as it is setting us back financially, I really believe it will be worth it.

Sounds like you have a very full plate. This community is great to feel less alone, vent, and just have a fun place to chat.

Welcome, and so glad you're here! I'm sorry about your son's situation, but so happy for you that he is okay. Will he need any more surgeries? This is a great place to find support and information. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better!

Welcome! We are almost done with med school - and it has flown by. Most certainly, though, you've dealt with more so far than we have! Welcome and post often

Thanks everyone! I really am hoping the "hardest part of the hard part" is over! Getting adjusted was probably harder than I thought, but I think I'm "there" now! LOL

His form of cranio involved just a single suture (sagittal-which is the most common type) and should only require just one surgery. We actually go to the craniofacial surgeon and the neurosurgeon on Wednesday with hopes of finally ditching his helmet! Thanks for asking

My neighbor's son had that, and is now a happy, healthy, on-schedule 7 year old. I hope all goes smoothly for you.
