Husband starting med school next week...

So many nice people on this network! My husband and I have been together for 8 years, however just recently married (June). We are currently in MN but he will be going to school back in our home state in SD. He starts July 28th (yep, next wednesday). We have no children, but have 2 dogs and 3 horses. So I plan on staying plenty busy with them.
I can't believe how concerned I am about all the time this will take away from us, but I just keep thinking of things that I will do to stay occupied and hopefully content!
At the present I will be commuting back and forth about 5 hours one way to see him and also keep a steady paycheck coming in. My worse trip will be leaving him for the first time next week.
Thanks for all the welcoming and support.
Have a great weekend!

One thing that got me through med school was having a book club with some other med school/resident wives. We still meet every wednesday and usually discuss a book that we are reading, but sometimes we just have dinner or get coffee. If there isn't something like this in your area, your husband might be able to send an email out to his fellow students to see if any of their wives might be interested!
It was especially great for people like me who moved to a new area and didn't know anybody. Like a small version of this group but in person! Totally life saving and a great way to make some friends who will understand what you're going through!-Mommy, FM wife, Disney Planner and Hoosier

So Med school has officially started! We went to all of the orientation/social things and that was great. It was nice to see and meet his classmates that will be so involved in his life for the next 4 years. There was a spouse/significant other group meeting that I found very beneficial. They had MSII's and their others and explained how they made it through and social get together things that are planned throughout the year. The ride back to Minnesota wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (surprisingly); the tough and lonely time hit me 2 days after that. I am back to work and we plan on seeing eachother this weekend. I have to say that he is being very supportive and realizing how difficult this is on me. Just wanted to give you all an update. Thanks again for all the advice and support!
