Yeah - our plan is to start a family soon as well. Another factor to throw in the mix that I'm not quite ready for . . . but may never be!

Welcome! I am another PGY1 wife recently relocated to Southern California (Orange County). I totally understand how you feel! It's very odd to go from a schedule of work, exercise, friends every day to...maybe exercising if you can stop crabbing around long enough to drive to the gym.
I agree with what everyone has said above about not knowing how tough it will be - I feel like each stage of my husband's education/career has been like that! It'll be easier after: he takes the MCAT, gets into Med School, gets used to Med School, finishes Med School, matches to a residency, gets used to a residency.....the list will go on forever! Each step always sounds easier in theory than it does in practice!
Hang in there!

hi there,
Welcome. My husband is a PGY-1 peds intern currently in Mobile, Alabama. Due to residency, i left my job as a laboratory researcher back in my home country (Malaysia) and travelled to the States. Everyone here are in the same boat. I am currently jobless too (not actively searching for one yet, but might soon). DH schedules changes everyday, so when my family asks me what time he comes back, i will say...uhmm.. today it will be 6 pm i hope.... cause he often comes home hours later than the scheduled time...I am sure you will do fine since you have been living in california during your college years. But yeah, never expect DH to appear when you need him....it never gets easier in residency...but we are all strong women after all.. =pMatch Day was the happiest day of my life... followed by my wedding day...
