Thank you for all the warm welcomes...I am looking forward to having an understanding group to commiserate with!

Mrs.BrainSurgeon - my fiancé is doing general surgery (he has not decided if he wants to specialize beyond that). I practice family law (no groans, please)! I can't believe you did two bar exams in 6 months...one was enough to drive me to the edge of insanity!

Why would anyone groan? You people do God's work--honestly. And everyone I know who practices it has the most incredibly, insane stories--like getting shot at my client's ex-spouses, etc.

Good for you for picking this field! We need great family law lawyers.

Lots of JDs around this site. Welcome!!

I always get a lot of flak for practicing family law...but in all honestly, I love it. It puts you in a position to help people that are really going through a really miserable time. It's nice to watch someone grow and have them realize that they're going to have a new life (and that it's okay to move on and be happy). Plus, you get to learn a little about a lot of different areas of law since no two cases are ever the same!

And we do get the insane stories. Thank god nothing of a violent nature has happened to me (and I hope it never does), but I have heard some crazy stories...

Um, wow! My DH did GS while I worked for as a judicial clerk in a court that did more family law than anything else. Interesting little quinkydink....
