  • NHATAMATACTM - New here and there are many Acronyms that are confusing to me

Could you guys help me out with the acronyms that are used most often on this site? If there's a post already addressing this then maybe you can point me in that direction? I'm still getting used to the setup. Thank you!!

Hehe I think we need to make a sticky... Here are a few.

    DH - Dear Husband
    DS - Dear Son
    DD - Dear Daughter
    MS 1-4 - Medical school year 1-4
PGY - Post Graduate Year (followed by a number); this is the number of years the spouse has been in residency

    Hmm, what others are there?

      SO - significant other
DD or DS followed by a number - second, third, fourth son/daughter
ILs - in laws, MIL - mother in law, FIL - father in law, BIL - brother in law, SIL - sister in law
Some of us refer to our children by first initials or nick names. Mine are BabyK (16 mos) and K2 (due in June)
FWIW - for what it's worth
IMO - in my opinion, or IMHO - in my humble opinion
WWYD - what would you do?
YMMV - your miliage may vary
Then there are all the med school, training, board, etc. acronyms for which we use the same definitions as our husbands (like USMLE, Step 1, etc.)

Sven = Our mythical, imaginary Butler / Masseuse /Chef / Spouse Replacement that we refer to in times of stress/need!!!!!!!

The Bus = Our imaginary vehicle belonging to one of our members, used to pick up members and transport them to whoever is in need of member support.

If the situation is really bad, Sven just may be on the bus!!!

Haha! I Know Sven! We went on vacay together last year when my FDH (future dear husband) was preparing for the MCAT. Man is Sven a Gem. Anywho, thank you everyone for your help. I'm sure i'll catch on quickly to the ones that are less familiar to me.

Kelly, I'm pretty sure our Sven has better taste in swimsuits. (RIGHT??? Please?) At least I hope he does.

I have to ask...who/what is Agent Brown Eyes??

I was thinking of Sven the other night when I saw the new Travelocity commercials with Rodrigo. I'm pretty sure that I have more use for Rodrigo at the moment.

No, no, no...our Sven is HOT! He's 007 meets butler, meets gardner, meets cabana boy, meets Mr. Mom, meets handyman, who always looks hot and replies, "as you wish."

I'll have to find my picture of the iMSN bus. I forget where I last parked it. I'm thinking of adding a few more buses and making it into a fleet. So many smack downs needed, only one bus!

What I lovingly call my inquiring husband sometimes. There are other online meanings for it referencing honest abe, like in the geico commercials, or the color of someones eyes when they're full of "it".

Sorry, this will be the only time I EVER use the term "Agent Brown Eye" because it sounds like a creepy name for someone's asshole.
