Married to a PGY-5 General Surgery Resident who's interviewing for fellowship. Very excited about the new chapter in our lives, but anxious about the possibility of moving,

Welcome! Looking forward to getting to know you! Do you have kids? Will you be looking for a new job when you move? It's an exciting time!

No kids, no pets, it's just the two of us. I will be looking for a new job once we move. The only issue though, is that the fellowship is a year long and I'm concerned that employers are going to view this as a problem. Any advice?

It's tough, but I'd probably go ahead and tell them. Is there a chance you would stay in the same place after fellowship? Lots of places are also hiring temporary employees. As long as you can get insurance through your husband's job, that could be a good option.

hi! There are several people on this board going through the same job issues as you. My husband is in his research year of gen surg with two more years to go after that... Then I will probably be asking the same question. Welcome to the site.

Welcome! There is actually a thread going right now that is discussing telling your potential employer that you will be leaving - check it out!
