Sometimes I think the ones that get fired, get fired because they feel trapped and can't "quit" neurosurgery, so the department feels the need to pull the plug for them. It says a lot about your husband that he had the insight and the courage to realize it wasn't for him. It's not easy to do for all the reasons already mentioned!Loving wife of neurosurgeon

I'm still around...just been doing a ton of contract work so I've been reading when I can, but mostly coming home and crashing.
As was previously said, my DH is switching as well...we're immensely grateful that he got a position even though it means moving and a third bar for me as well (next month actually...and it's NY -- NOT excited...need to start studying).
I totally know what you're going through and how difficult of a decision it was...if you ever need to talk, let me know! And good luck! (to both of us)!
