  • Hello!

Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself...although signing up for this forum might be premature as my relationship is at a weird place right now. I've been with my SO for a year and residency plus long distance has been a scary butt munching beast. I hope that we can overcome our hurdles and strengthen our relationship. Until then, I hope you ladies (and gentlemen) don't mind me whining. Although there are times when I want to cry in a dark corner, I love him more than I can express in words and am willing to do whatever it takes to fight for us.

I'm a freelance writer and teacher, hoping to do more of the former and less of the latter at a certain point. The economy took a toll on my writing career so I'm working on getting that back on track. Everything feels up in the air, which isn't good for someone who is kind of anal about scheduling and things like that. So I'm learning how to roll with the punches. Therapy helps.

Welcome! Glad you're learning to roll with it; it's kind of a requirement when you're in a relationship with a physician, too. There's not a heck of a lot of control with their schedules, either.

Welcome! There are several members here who've lived through periods of long distances, so you're in good company! It sounds miserable, though. What is your SO doing residency in? Looking forward to getting to know you!

Thank you ladies...and yes, long distance blows. Well put. My SO is doing a residency in Emergency Medicine and I'm very proud of him as a person but holy sweet goddamn, I want to drop kick residency for what it's doing to him and us.

This says it all. So glad you found us, the lifestyle can really suck. Stick around and you will survive this, there is a reason there are so many of us still here well into attendinghood!!!!!!!!
