  • Hello, new here :)

I don't know what I'm doing so I shall start (well, sort of) here Actually I am just going to copy and paste what I put in the introductions 'welcome' sticky thread... and that's not an awkward sentence at all, lol

    Hi folks 
I'm not a spouse, just a girlfriend which actually poses some of its own unique... problems, I guess. So anyway let me know if I should skedaddle.
My boyfriend is only in his first semester of medical school, going for his DO. We're doing fairly well especially considering I am Borderline (for those of you non-psych folks it's borderline personality disorder and its no walk in the park... though thankfully as far as Borderlines go I'm pretty easy to deal with... no major blowing up) which makes dealing with the fact that he has zero time that much harder (because despite my constant mantra of 'he's a med student, he's busy, it's fine'... *shakes head* it's ridiculous). Actually that's why I sought out a group like this... more reminders that it's not just me. He is great with it, much more than I could have ever hoped for 
I am a university graduate with a BA in psychology (irony of ironies, heh) and am currently unemployed... picking up the pieces of my life and gluing them back together. Don't worry I'm not as crazy as I sound 
That might be about it... Oh, and after all the fun of med school and all that good stuff there's four years of Army life ahead of us (they're paying for his med school).
OK, that ought to do it.
Nice to 'meet' you all 
My great hope is to laugh as much as I cry; to get my work done and try to love somebody and have the courage to accept the love in return. ~Maya Angelou

Welcome to the shitfest. We get it, I promise. We were all once girlfriends or boyfriends, whether before med school, during, or afterwards. You're in good company.

lol thankfully I live in Ellensburg (not quite the drug and hang violence problems that Yakima has). He lives in Yakima though, which sucks but it could be worse, he comes up on weekends (that is, when he doesn't have exams coming up).
Which do you prefer, west side or east side?

I figured he at least lived in The Yak since that's the only DO school in the state. But yay for Eburg. Cool town.

We lived out-of-state for almost a decade, so our perspective of which side we like best is probably skewed by just being glad to be back in the PNW. And the west side is where all of our family is located, sooooo... yeah, east side is best for us.

Really, Ellensburg to Yakima isn't a bad distance. Close enough for regular visits, but far enough that he has to make an effort. That's kind of the sweet spot.

Hang in there. Med school can be a rough road. Feel free to come here to vent when shit goes sideways.
