Welcome! I'm another 'grown in Washington person' though do not live there now. I've lived in both the east & west side. My grandparents had an orchard in Yakima. I much prefer the west side of the state though.
Wife to Hand Surgeon just out of training, mom to two lovely kittys and little boy, O, born in Sept 08.

lol you mean you don't want to go back? I'm just SHOCKED

Yeah, he made the drive back and forth for the last two years of his undergrad, it's not a huge deal. Sucks though that sometimes I really feel like I need to spend some time with him but with gas costs and him studying... At least if we lived in the same town it'd be easier to just drop in and hang out while he studies.
Alright, my pity party is over, lol

The only other thing I have to say is, Go Army! lol

I don't get why so many of my old hs friends DID go back and now their FB is all "Yakima pride" lol. I'm the only non-sell out. Swore I was going to leave and I swear I will not settle there!!!

Another nickname for it: Crackima. I like that one. My neighbor (who also stayed true to her pledge to never return-- she lives in Bellingham ) always calls it Crackima. And isn't it wacky how the mercy theater only takes cash! Been like that forever. So ridiculous. But a nice military discount.

I pledged never to live in hometown again, either. Still truckin'. I won't return there ever again. Hell, I have no desire to go there even for HS reunions.

Yes, as much as I love my home town because it is where I grew up and where most of my family resides (or did)... I have never had the desire to go back. My attachment is nostalgia only.
About Yakima, lol I know My sad didn't believe me when I told him how bad it was until we were at a family friends funeral... One if his (the dead guy) sons is a cop in Kennewick, I think, and when HE told my dad it was bad well then he believed it.
Shall have to check out that military discount at the theatre... That is assuming B ever has any time EVER AGAIN, lol

So very glad I found you all... Even this little bit of small talk is helpful
