  • Surgery Spouse Newbie

My husband is a 6th year surgery resident and will join the Navy upon completion of his residency in 6 months.

We have two girls, ages 2 1/2 and 5 1/2.

I am working part-time as a Paralegal (at home).

We are in need of a change of scenery and look forward to a move with the Navy.

I am a typical surgery resident spouse who is stressed, worn out and a little bit nutty.

I have recently had obesity surgery (stomach stapling) and have lost 38 lbs in two months.

Any information about handling military moves, selling your house, low impact exercises at home, meddling mother-in-laws and willful two year olds will be most helpful!

      Welcome fellow surgery spouse survivor.

We are in our 4th year of a seven to eight year gen surgery residency (2-3 years research). People have already started to forewarn us how hellish fellowship can be, which DH has his heart set on. Honestly, I can't even think about that yet, it is too overwhelming.

Anyway, my heartiest congratulations on getting through. You've earned it. Welcome aboard.
