  • Newbie--Journey about to begin!

    Hi everyone!
Just wanted to write a quick note that I am very excited to begin this 'journey' with my DH that decided at 31 yo that he wanted to be a doctor. His first degree was in business so for the last 1 1/2 years he has been taking science classes at our local university. He got accepted to med school in November and starts in August 2004!

I am so excited for him, but at the same time I worry about how this adventure will affect our family. We have been married 10 years and we have 3 great kids (9, 5 and 10 months). DH will be away at school during the week and home with us on the weekends (about a 2 hour drive away). I was not ready to give up my job, house and support system to go to the med school city when that is not where we want to end up in the long run. I also want to keep some consistency for the kids (i.e. keeping them at the same school).

Anyway--I think this journey will be grand and will make us both stronger people! This site is great and I look forward to relating with others in the same situations!

Welcome to the site, my husband and I are on the other end - he's finishing med school in June. There are a lot of great resources here and the varying group of people always amazes me. Can I ask where you are in Iowa? My husband and I are currently considering Iowa for residency.

    Welcome aboard!

      Welcome,

We have several members here who came to medicine later rather than earlier. Hopefully they will be a great resource for you.

      WELCOME!
