  • Newbie here!

Just wanted to poke my head and say hello and that I'm glad to have found this place!

I'm Cheryl, wife to a soon-to-be internist. He would be graduating this June, but took an extra year to do a teaching fellowship, so we still have fourth-year rotations to complete. He will graduate in June 2005. We have two little boys, and I am a busy SAHM.

We're in Missouri for now, and he plans to do his residency here, but he is in the National Health Service Corps, so we'll be doing two years in a medically underserved community after his residency. We're hoping to end up in Montana - we're both originally from the West Coast/Mountain region.

      Hey Cheryl!

I don't know if you remember me, but we exchanged PMs once on MommieTalk.com/newmommie.com. I had recognized you from OPM. And now here you are. Small world, huh?! I had assumed you already knew about this site, otherwise I would have referred you here back then.

      Welcome!

        Cheryl,

That sounds really neat that he was able to do a teaching fellowship. Is he interested in going into Academic medicine/teaching? My husband also did an internal medicine residency..and then an ID fellowship. We're already 3 years out of residency (it goes sooo fast). We have four children...ages 9,8,5 and 6 months!

Welcome to the group!!! I love your blog, btw!

welcome...if you've made it this far, you must be a medspouse survivor. Good luck wrapping this year up.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! It's nice to see some familiar faces - what a small world!

I can't believe how fast these four years have flown by. We're about 98% sure we'll be in the same location for the next four-ish years - I don't know exactly when it becomes official, though!

DH is definitely interested into going into Academic Medicine. He frequently gives lectures to some of the MS-1 and MS-2 classes and has been invited to do the same next year, so that's exciting for him. The only trouble is that we anticipate living in a rural place where a med school to teach at is unlikely! It will all fall into place I'm sure.

Off to explore the rest of the board now...
