  • PGY2 in Augusta, Ga - displaced Charlestonian

Hello! What a great community you all have here! Excited to join in. We are PGY2 of 5 in Augusta, GA. We are from Charleston and I am a lifelong Charlestonian really missing home. I haven't found it easy to make friends in our new location. Nearly 40 trying to make friends - hah - life's funny. We have 2 young boys and I work full time. We stay busy
Working mom of almost 5yo (Sept 2013) boy S and 2.5yo (Feb 2016) boy J and old lady fur baby. Husband is 2nd career PGY2 in Radiology. I'm on social media too much and really need to read and practice yoga more.

Hi. What line of work are you in? My husband was a non-traditional student, starting residency in our late 30s with 2 small boys. This is a great place for support. Tell us more about yourself. We’ll be your friends!

Hi!! MS4 with an 8 week old. Non-trad student here as well. I think my dude will be 42/43 by the time he's done training. It's a trip being the "old" people, isn't it??

Welcome! PGY-4 of 6 here, with a 3.5 y/o. DH is nontraditional too, we'll be 38 when he finishes. I work FT too, so between the moving and the busy schedule, most of my friends are online these days. Settle in and get to know the boards! Look forward to hearing more from you!

It really is! My favorite moment was at Med School kick-off event for his newly starting class. I was 400 weeks pregnant with our first and heard a guy say he graduated from the sister high school to mine. He said "oh what year were you?" I said that I was much older than him but told hime 1996 anyway. He said, "oh that's the year I started 1st grade!" I mean, come on! I will add that I am 4.5 years older than my husband, so he is older than most residents but more of a gap with me.

I am a Registered Dietitian and CLC for public health programs in SC (even though we're currently in GA on the state line with SC). My work now is remote mostly since moving from Charleston, but I go back a lot. DrH started residency at 34, but I was 38. It is bizarre to be working through all this change at my ripe age. Turning 40 in Sept!

I did the same thing. I telecommuted for 2 years during my husband's residency. I hated it. It was so lonely. I turned 40 the year he finished residency.
