  • Hello - fiance'/husband of a physician

Hope that having a male spouse on here doesn't violate the sanctity of the board, but here I am!

A quick intro: I've been engaged and living with my partner for over 3 years. She and I both had prior marriages, mine included having 4 children with my ex-wife. They are aged 14, 16, 19, and 21. She does not have children, but as you can imagine bringing a blended family together into the household of a physician has had its own set of interesting challenges. I was drawn to this board to discuss some of those challenges with others who might have similar experiences. Glad to be here!

Welcome! We also have a couple of blended families in the group as well.

Tell us about yourself? What do you do? What region of the world are you from?

Welcome. What kind of physician is she? Do you work outside the home? This is definitely not a place restricted to women, just heavily dominated. We have a handful of great guys who im sure will say hi soon.

Thanks all! She's an ophthalmologist. I'm in Tech. I'm an engineer by training but a Program Manager by job title.

We're in central Texas. Pretty much a country unto itself... I have a full time job and trying to compete with her (income, responsibilities, etc.) and still raise my kids, balance our hobbies/interests (horses - her, cycling - me). First relationship I've been in where I'm not the primary bread-winner. And it's been challenging to adapt to the stresses of her job, the stresses of mine, plus the challenges of raising kids together.

Hi! I used to be the primary breadwinner, too! I just keep reminding DH I put him through med school :P unlike you, though, we've had it both ways in the same relationship. I'm sure it's more of an adjustment for you.
