I just wanted to say hello. I am new to the website and still figuring out how it works. A little history... I met my husband at the end of his first year of med school and we got married the month before he graduated. He finished his surgical residency in June and is currently doing a one year fellowship. It has been a long road but we are looking forward to finally finishing his training and moving on wtih our lives. About 3 years ago I searched the internet for a "Spouses of Surgeons" website but found nothing, I really wish I would have found this website back then as it seems to have a lot of valuable information and if nothing else "support".

WELCOME!!!! This site had been really helpful to me and I hope you find it helpful too! Surgery is a tough road. What type of surgery is your DH going into?
Welcome, post often and read up on what has been discussed so far! It's nice to know there are people out there who are living similar lives. Sometimes this life feels so lonely!Flynn

Welcome,
My husband had been an attending for quite a few years when I found this site, and I find it just as helpful now as I'm sure those who are just beginning find it to be!!!! My husband is a Pulmonologist/Critical Care attending and I am an RN. We have 4 children (2 each). I look forward to getting to know you. This is a great site and I am sure it has saved many a medical marriage (thanks Kris!!!).

Welcome,
While I love all the medical spouses here, like most of us, I have a special spot in my heart for the spouses who have endured my husband's specialty. I'll be the first to offer a rousing cheer of support to anyone who cries out that "Surgery sucks". I honestly do not allow myself to think about the end because it feels so far away. We are starting year five of seven in general surgery (two years research) with plans for a two year fellowship. I can't even imagine being able to see an end in sight. Hats off to you my friend. You have been through it.
Welcome aboard.
