    Hi Annie,

I think that we have a few things in common (read my siggie below my name). It is always nice to meet a fellow surgery survivor.

Congrats on being near the end and welcome aboard.

      Hi and WELCOME!!!!

This IS a great resource and I too wish I had found it sooner!

In all honesty, I had (and still do but on a MUCH SMALLER scale) really big issues with this idea as well. We went to counselling about 5 times and I learned I was holding on to past hurts because I never felt like #1 My hurts were ever acknowledged and discussed in a reasonable manner (DH alway tried to minimize how hard his job was on our marriage) and #2 DH had a clue what my life was like and #3 HIS CHOICE to be a doc had some serious consequences and he needed to STEP UP and help at home

At counselling I felt "heard" and we both learned things about the other we couldn't see. We found out we were not as far apart as we thought we were and we both got to say what we wanted with a counsellor who would not let us get off track or snide with each other. It was SO GREAT.

Some programs offer this service for free....

I think if we had let things go for much longer we would have really been stuck on a bad path.

Things aren't perfect now but we are much more the team I thought we should be through this whole experience..

        Re: Better late than never...

I really enjoyed the article about rebuilding your life after training.
Hi Ladybug, welcome! I'm new too and I am so happy to have found this group. We're not anywhere near being done with B's training yet, but I am curious about the article you mentioned above... where did you find it? I'm compiling some stories of successful relationships in the training process, and this sounds intriquing and helpful

        Thanks again!
...and if anyone wants to offer up their advice/experience as a story, let me know and we can "chat"! :chat:

Actually, the links are currently only available in the articles section of the main website:

              http://www.medicalspouse.com

              Go to the Articles!

MDFamily is currently revamping and preparing for some changes and there is no access through the site at this time.

Here is the url to the article:

              Thanks for the rave review!
