I am the wife of an OB/GYN PGY2. He originally intended to do gyn/onc but that has since been nixed due to lifestyle considerations. Those post call days were great but he doesnt get them anymore bc of the night float system.... now it is pretty much 14 days on 48 hours off. That is why you will find me online all the time. Welcome! I swear I am usually a more positive person!

Welcome! I'm a gyn/onc widow. PM me if you have specific questions. Fellowships can vary widely in their "family-friendliness". Of course, it's sort of a crap shoot getting into one in the first place, so it's hard to be choosy. I'm glad your residency has been smooth so far. I look forward to getting to know you.Angie

Hi!
I'm not an ob/gyn widow (my dh is rads) but I have five children and we're at the tail-end of residency. Soooo, I can relate to you with the herd of tiny children and an oft-absent daddy!
Welcome!

Hi Tara,
Welcome and glad you found us. The lifestyle is anything but boring and it sounds like you have your hands full.

Hi Tara-
I am an infrequent poster here but keep meaning to step it up
My DH is a 1st year Gyn/Onc fellow, and while it is a super demanding field he truly enjoys the work. We are lucky that we are in a "livable" community, very safe and great schools. I guess that makes up for what it lacks in the excitement department Angie is right though- spots are hard to come by and beggars can't be choosers unfortunately.
I am very sympathetic about all the uncertainty. I am a planner by nature, and I hate not being able to get all my ducks in a row. Luckily my kiddies are so little they are easily drug along, I know it has got to be more difficult with older ones.
Welcome, and please PM me if you have fellowship Q's
