  • residency is so lonely

Hi! I'm new to this post. I am very happy to find this site, you cannot believe how relieved I am to have a connection to so many others who appreciate where I am. I am married to a second year anesthesia resident, our third anniversary is in a few weeks. No kids, both of us work a lot, and lately I feel very alone in this world.
I know my husband has a lot going on, his father is dealing with a recent recurrence of renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer), the regular stress of being a resident, and I know I'm hard to be with too (I'm a very busy lawyer). Just feeling frustrated.
Tell me it gets better than this!

    Welcome!

You have a lot on your respective plates so welcome aboard. We have several lawyers here as well! (I'm not one of them, but trust me.)

Does it get better, yes. Will it get worse? maybe. The good news is that this year is more than half over!

Post away and we look forward to getting to know you better.

    Jenn

We've had cycles of better and worse, but I know I've felt a lot less lonely since finding this group. Welcome.

                      You're not alone

Aloha - I'm new to the board too. I found it just as we were getting ready to move from Hawaii to Texas for residency. Medical school was a very lonely & trying experience for me because my boyfriend was so busy with school. This board has been a great source of support. People have been great with responses, advice and encouragement... so welcome and hope to get to know you.

Wow. You're leaving Hawaii for Texas with a boyfriend for residency? You're a much more giving soul than I, my friend.

I'm glad you found us, too. Anyone who says "aloha y'all" is my kind of peep!

Best of luck with your move.

Welcome. I hope that Texas is a great place for you both. BTW, are you licensed in TX? I hear that they have a section on the bar on oil and gas rights. Hopefully, the relicensing process and move will go easy.
