    Hello everyone,

I've been stopping in for a while to read.

I am Canadian and living in Toronto. My boyfriend/soon to be Fiance is American and just moved to California to start clinicals. He is thinking of radiology but we have no idea yet until he is done clinicals. I will be moving down to the US after clinicals.

I'm looking forward to speaking with you on the board,

Welcome aboard! I'm Kelly, wife of a 3rd year general surgery resident.

When you say "clinicals" do you mean that you are still in the med school process or residency or some other phase? I know that many people here have negotiated the waters of distance relationships during medical training. Hopefully they will be a good source of advice. Also, we have several other "Canooks" on board so hopefully you will feel right at home.

I look forward to chatting more below!

    Kelly

In my dreams I run with the Kenyans.

He is just starting clinicals in a hospital at the end of July as 3rd year medical school. The long distance is hard but we figure that it will be easier for me when he's in residency because i'll get to see him more than I do now.

Welcome to the group! We have a few canadians and several who've been there with the distance relationship, so I'm sure that you'll find several people to offer support to you! I'm sure that it will be a challenge with him so far away...What profession are you in? I guess I'm assuming that you are staying in Canada for school or job? Will your boyfriend be looking to do a residency in the US or in Canada?

I look forward to getting to know you.....I think that you'll find that the people here are very supportive.

          Hello!

I met my husband when he was a third year medical student and we proceeded to spend nine of the next 14 months apart. So, it can be done! (and when he was around we were sharing my 515 square foot apartment so needless to say, visiting him was a lot more fun!

          Welcome!

I am a computer security specialist for the government here. I love my job and financially it's better for us if I stay up here and continue to work. We see each other approximately once every 2 months so I know I'm luckier than some to be able to do that. I'm saving up right now to support us fully for most of residency so that we can start to pay off loans at that time with both our salaries. He will be coming here around the end of 2003 to stay will me until I leave my job in May/June 2004 when we move down to wherever residency will be.

Welcome to the boards! My husband is a radiologist who just finished his residency three years ago on Toronto. We are now in Alberta. I miss Toronto on many counts, but love Alberta too.

I was in high tech software development in Toronto, and now am a stay-at-home mom.

              Welcome!

Hi! My husband is a radiologist here in the states! He's still in residency training in New England. There seem to be quite a few Canadians in residency in this area, actually! So, perhaps you guys will end up in the NE US? Nice to meet you and good luck!
