not my favorite response, i have to say. yes - their job is really, really tough ... but they're also working to "do what they love". unless he's a med student in the middle of clerkships and stuck in a rotation he'd never consider doing (but then it's still a crappy response). just don't let him slide too much w/that attitude. your job can totally suck too, and it's totally reasonable for you to have that place to vent. relationships are a 2 way street. we get stuck doing all the driving MORE than enough. a kind ear is not too much to ask.

and - by the way - welcome.

That’s exactly what he says… but it makes me feel better to hear it from someone else….

Ok now I really am going to stop reading and go out for a drink…. This is VERY addictive ... my first message board....

Froggie - I have a job I hate and DH has never said that to me - being in neurosurgery is not an excuse - he doesn't get to use that.

As for not revealing much about yourself, I understand, neurosurgery is a very small world and I sometimes think I have revealed too much - we'll let you hang around anyway!

I think you guys are misunderstanding her statement. He tells her she SHOULDN'T use his job as a measuring stick, which is a very nice thing of him to say.

Ohhhh I am so sorry that you thought that…. No he is honestly the most amazing person I have ever met… if he weren’t there would be no reason for me to put up with his schedule (which he also consistently thanks me for). Honestly it isn’t as if anyone who is even sort of sane would think there was any other reason (and it CLEARLY isn’t for money like some people imply…he seriously makes like $2 an hour). Feeling guilty about whining is my own personal issue (I feel guilty about EVERYTHING… I think it was all the Catholic school, but that’s another issue). I actually emailed him about the whole situation when it was happening and while I was out he sent an email, 2 texts and left vm to make sure I was ok…

I think the main reason I liked this board so much was it has started to make me realize his job isn’t as crazy as I have always made it out to be… I just don’t know many people going through this.... so I have had a hard time understanding how it all works…. But really he is wonderful… he is just a resident… which all of you understand, and why I’m here… but thank you for defending me nonetheless :ra:

The drinks were great... but with people I work with, and they all agree with the reasons I was upset today.... I may not go back... lol. I feel like the guy from office space, maybe I just give up :weight:

yeah right, I'm sure I'll be ther e at 9 just itching for more abuse :^

                    we'll see.... thank you again!!!!!!!

I love office space!!! It is probably one of my favorite movies. At my old job, we actually did have TPS reports!

Hope your day is better today!

I agree... too funny. It is a great movie, and as stupid as it seemed to me before I started working…. it’s such a relevant depiction of office life at times (which is scary).

I took the day off…. and I’m sort of proud of myself for doing it. I’m just going rest and work on essays for my grad school applications… making progress with those should hopefully make me feel better….

                          Thanks for listening
