  • Hi-new here

Oh thank god there is a place where I can meet others! I am so nuts! We are on year two of medical school- starting to study for the boards- and are in Philadelphia. We are looking to start our family, and are also trying to look to the future (which is behind a big cloud of school right now). Yea for other people!

            Also new

            Hey guys,
I'm also new and am so relieved to have found a support group for resident spouses. My husband is a third year surgical resident on the east coast and I'm going nuts. I'm originally from the west coast so left all my friends/family for someone I don't see; in the 2.5 years we've been out here (but who's counting, ha) I haven't met a single person in the same boat (his program doesn't have a spousal social group) so I feel like I'm going crazy by myself. Would love to hear advice from anyone else who has left everything behind to endure this extremely difficult experience! Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

Welcome to you both - my words of wisdom are have your own friends, make your own plans or spend a lot of time on here.

I did the leave everything and move for DH, twice now. It can be done, its hard but possible.

                  Welcome!

We have people here who've survived medical school AND nine years of residency and fellowship. Imagine that.

                      i have nothing!

talk to kelly, flynn or kozmo...they're the heros we all worship. flynn just finished 9 years of residency with her dh, kelly is almost done with 5 years of surg. residency and starting fellowship....and kozmo, im not sure where she is????

just try and make friends and get out there....dont rely on your dh for anything.

(says the girl who waits at home for her dh....and has not met a single person)

Well, it depends on the tone of the post. :> Nah, I'm only kidding. It means Dear Husband.
