• CD/DVD drive for Mac

I know we have tech savvy people here. I have an old iMac and the CD drive doesn't work. The Apple store guy said it was 100+ to fix it. I see external drives on amazon much cheaper but I'm confused by all of the letters.

I want to be able to watch movies on my computer (like exercise videos and redbox movies). I'd like to be able to play music CDs and to look at CDs of pictures from the past. I use a USB key storage thing for moving documents and pictures for work.

Anyone want to tell me what to buy? I don't even know how to check what operating system I have.

I had never heard of that. I googled it and on Amazon it says it won't work with an iMac that had an internal CD drive. It's for computers that never had a CD drive. Thank you though for the suggestion!

Yeah no help here :/ I wouldn't be surprised if the cheaper ones are not compatible

poky told me what to buy when I got my new Mac (which doesn't come with a disk drive). She'll know.

Hm. I'm posting on the fly. My first step would be to figure out exactly what model you have, and what OS.. Google how to do that, and post the results here, or PM me with them, and I'll figure out what external drive will work for you.
