  • Sex offenders younger, more violent

This is so heartbreaking, and scary!
About a year or so ago, my mom informed me that a 4 year old little girl was rushed to the hospital after her mom came home and found her in her bed weak and bleeding profusely between her legs. It turns out the 12 and 10 year old boys that were hired to watch her (relatives or neighbors) had assaulted her w/ pencils, cooking utensils and worst of all a fork

I just read that article on CNN. Very, very troubling. I have to pay bills but quickly, we were at the car dealership today having our flat tire repaired. So we are in the lounge with the girls and the TV is on a NASCAR race. This commercial comes on with this sexy woman growling and rolling around. . .stretching, blah blah, you get the picture. . .it was very risque and my daughter was watching it with a puzzled expression. The ad was for a f*&@(@# cheeseburger. What the hell does that have to do with a cheeseburger? I looked at my daughter to assess her reaction and I said, "hmm...that was kind of silly, wasn't it?" She said, "What was she doing?" I said, lamely, "I think she was pretending to be a leopard. Maybe she wants to be in a zoo."

Tangent...but daytime sports advertising really gets me mad. :soapbox: It is ridiculous that I can't watch college basketball with my kids without my finger on the remote for the commercials.

I just dropped in here before bedtime and, good grief, this is going to give me nightmares now. I cannot comprehend the horror that little child - a four year old is still a baby in so many ways - endured.

OK, I need to get off the computer now because I am sooooo disturbed. :bummer:
Who uses a machete to cut through red tape
With fingernails that shine like justice
And a voice that is dark like tinted glass

I read somewhere about groups of high school boys who were holding other boys down and doing rectal exams to them in the back of busses during trips to athletic events.

So so sad. And sick. How do you raise a kid who does that kind of stuff?

Wow - that's all I can say. I think I am going to lose my breakfast. My biggest fear is of not being killed, maimed, burned, robbed, but of being brutally raped. I cannot imagine anything worse. It would be a violation too great for me to even wrap my head around, especially since my mom was raped, and I have seen her struggle with it. To have this done to a child- ENRAGES me. Absolutely f'n enrages me. I can think of nothing more hideous and despicable- it destroys the fabric of their life- their ability to trust others and themselves, the ability to experience sex in a loving, beautiful way, their self-esteem. Okay, I need to get off the computer now, I am pretty pissed.

On a similar note, I was talking to a friend from Brasil yesterday, and she told me that she has forbidden her 5 year old son from kissing her on the lips, because others may think she is sexually abusing him. I thought, "how sad". What has this country come to when a mother cannot bestow motherly love on her son, without people thinking she is sexually interested in him?????? Are we that warped?

                  Are we that warped?

Yes. I really think we are. I know that stuff happens all over the world but I'm fairly disgusted with our country. Times have changed. Some people say "oh, this has been happening for a long time. . .the media is just reporting more. . .people are getting caught up in the hysteria. . ." but I truly believe that the world is a MUCH different place than even 15 years ago. And it's scary.

Think about what "bad" shows you watched as a kid. The A-team? Magnum, P.I.? Now there are 5 gazillion channels full of S@&* and fully accessible to kids (because their parents are in the driveway drinking out of a beer bong (sp?!) - and YES, I kid you not. . .we drove by a home in our neighborhood last night where we saw this happening in the driveway and I know for a fact that they have 4-5 little girls). I know - now you are thinking where in the heck do we live?

                  Sorry about the tangent.

                    .

That is so funny- I did think that. I am sure you live in a very nice area. However, I had visions of a bunch of sweaty WT men wearing wife-beaters sitting out on a chipped-paint, front porch downing 45s and shooting pistols into a weather-beaten yard with scrubby grass, as scantily-dressed women with Marlboros hanging out of their mouths massaged "their man's" backs.

                    Sorry to hijack.
