Hillary is going to be on The View tomorrow. Can't wait to see my woman (sorry Jenn).

Hopefully, Whoopi Golberg won't make any bizarre jokes about wanting to have a three-some with her and Bill (I saw the blurp with Nancy Pelosi on the news...how exactly did Whoopi expect her to respond?).

        She was on today.

Oh, Whoopi Goldberg made some joke when Pelosi was on a couple of weeks ago, regarding how good-looking Pelosi's partner is and how she (Whoopi) would be interested in sleeping with him...them...who knows. It was odd. Even Pelosi wasn't 100% sure how to respond. And she's from San Francisco, the land of everything-anything goes.

I felt kind of bad for Pelosi. It was a "squirm" kind of moment.

A male Speaker of the House would never be greeted with a "hey, I'd love to nail your wife" remark on a talk show. And there's no way a conservative could have gotten away with that kind of remark to Pelosi. But I guess it all gets a wink and a nod because, after all, "It's a mostly liberal show, so this isn't a double-standard...it's just good fun." Uh, no, it's disrespectful and unseemly, regardless--this is one of the highest ranking, most accomplished women in our political history. But I guess I am a conservative so I just don't have that self-depreciating sense of feminist humor (??).

And what was Barbara Walters thinking? Her remark was equally inappropriate. Bizarre. Stuff like this makes her come across as a washed up, never-really-seriously-relevant-as-a-report "anchor" with too much make-up and a penchant for avoiding unflattering close-up shots, trying to look hip-and-with-it. I mean, yuck. She's the grand dame of this kind "news light" television. She practically invented it. Surely she's got more style than this.

Here's the play-by-play, as reported by Politico:

Paul Pelosi is accustomed to playing second fiddle to his famous wife, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. But on Tuesday’s episode of the daytime talk show The View, Mr. Pelosi stole the show.

“We have an older man in the audience who I think is so attractive,” said Barbara Walters, one of the show’s five female panelists. “You wanna take a look at Nancy Pelosi’s handsome husband?” she asked as cameras turned to a bashful Paul Pelosi and the audience cheered.

“I see you eying me,” quipped Whoopi Goldberg, another panelist. “That’s cool.”

After a few ads for home pregnancy tests and shower gel, the Paul Pelosi adulation continued.

With Speaker Pelosi now seated with the panel, Walters quipped about Goldberg, “I think she’d like to do your husband.”

Retorted Goldberg, “I would do her as well, but we should wait on that because you’re still in office, I don’t want to cause a problem.”

              Who DOES that?

and ladies, really...let's not forget some of the insane stuff Ann Coulter has said.

I wonder if Barbara Walters is instructing them to act like idiots for ratings?

I mean WHO in their right mind SAYS THAT?

I don't watch the view but I caught it a few weeks back and noticed Whoopi saying lots of sex comments, and saying she would sleep with so and so... very gross. Please people keep your sex needs/wants to yourself, I could care less. I swear you can't even have the morning shows on anymore around the kids. Off rant, the Today show talks way to much about sex, Sex cougars, sex hookups and round table talks about it, and so forth. What happened to actual news... this is why I love NPR.

Very true, but she gets called on it and it gets reported in the media. Now she is just getting so nutty the media is hardly bothering with her.
Coulter is actually brilliant in terms of being able to discuss American and Western European 20th century history. She can dissect and eviscerate "historical truths" that aren't either but are used popularly, by all sides. 9She does it, really, though in her writing because the bite-sized talking points format of news interviews don't lend to laying out arguments. Everyone just yells and tries to talk over each other. There's not much intellectual or interesting accomplished.

Her writing shows a baseline of knowledge that is so far above most people--including her own fans--that she is liked and hated for the wrong reasons. (She has a piece of Alger Hiss that is riveting.) But, I would venture to say, most of the people who love her love that she's a loud-mouth, unapologetic conservative and most of the people I know who hate her have never read anything she's written. No intellectual appreciation or refutation on either account.

Half of what she says is in a Swiftian format, half of it is completely straight...but all is overlaid with an adamant commitment to say things in the most acidic way possible. Even I get tired of it sometimes--the lack of pleasantness.

(And, to be totally catty, she needs to wear something other than a black sheath dress. Hey, we all know you're really blonde and really pretty. Got it. Regardless of what she's doing or where she's appearing, she looks like she is about to go out for apple martinis.)

Trivia: Coulter, a U Mich law grad and a DOJ Honors Program graduate, clerked for Judge Pasco Bowman of the Eighth Circuit, the Judge who preceded the Eighth Circuit judge I worked for in 2005-06 (Judge Bowman has taken senior status). She attends all her Judge's clerk reunions.

I don't enjoy Ann Coulter, but I don't enjoy any politcial commentator/talking head types. But am I the only one that doesn't think she is pretty? I really don't find the skinny long-legged woman of a certain age "type" attractive.
