I've seen it twice today. I thought it means uptight...In germany it was also used to mean someone who was too uptight to put out.

Re: verklemmt
I'm thinking Mike Myers on Coffee Talk and that was portrayed as getting choked up, it seemed.
eta: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.p ... =verklempt
1. verklempt 220 up, 17 down
Verklempt - choked with emotion (German verklemmt = emotionally inhibited in a convulsive way)
This is not FAKE Yiddish - unless you are one of the linguists who consider Yiddish a "fake", i.e. non-transformational language.
OY, vey. When that schmuck of a doctor told me I had cancer I got all verklempt.

2. verklempt 62 up, 25 down
Overcome with emotion / gobsmacked
also spelled verklemmt
"Now I am strating To get Verklempt !!!" Says Barbra Streisand during her 1994 US tour

3. verklempt 41 up, 21 down
Extremely emotional. On the verge of tears.
"I'm so verklempt. I am so upset over Andy Pettite leaving the Yankees that I must go out for a very unhealthy, fattening, expensive lunch."

Yeah, when I see "dawkter" I always imagine it being said in Mike Meyer's voice for Cawfee Tawlk.Who uses a machete to cut through red tape
With fingernails that shine like justice
And a voice that is dark like tinted glass

Re: verklemmt
Are there two different words being talked about here? When I read the subject title I assumed it was someone referring to verklempt, but misspelling it. It's Yiddish, and it means (I believe) getting all worked up / emotional. The word / meaning Kris was referring to could just be an entirely different word.

It's got some of the more famous lines but I can't find any snippets for Kris to see.

Re: verklemmt
Originally posted by *Lily*I was using the Yiddish term, although I likely spelled it wrong (does Yiddish actually have a correct way to spell it? Since it's half-Hebrew, I'm never sure...). I was using it to express overly emotional.
