  • Bailout bill fails

    Exciting times. For news junkies.

I can't wait to see what happens next.

    Re: Bailout bill fails

I sent my very first email to my congresswoman asking to vote against this bill. I'm not sure what will happen now... I kind of thought, like Ladybug, that it would pass anyway. It should be interesting to see if the sky falls like they said it would. Personally, I think it will suck for a little while, but we Americans are pretty scrappy. I think we'll be fine in the long run!

Pretty much everyone hates it- I think those that voted for it did so while holding their noses.

I hate it. I think Bush is the only one who actually is enthused by it. Of course, he doesn't want the tanking of the entire American economy to be just as yet one more thing on his resume...

So will they keep tweaking it and revoting now?

I sent emails to my senators and congressmen that if they vote yes on this I will never vote for them again. Look at the language in this bill, it is completely throwing out our constitution in places.

Did anyone hear McCotter this weekend? He described this bail out as the congress throwing a pile of dung on the American taxpayers door step, ringing the bell and then running. Great description!
DH called me from work to tell me it didn't pass. We were both quite relieved. I know a LOT of people who have called and emailed their local congressmen/women that they won't return them to office if they vote for this bill.

I am very surprised it was rejected as well, there was so much hype about it passing. I am relieved though because throwing away 700 billion to a short term fix is such a bad decision. It is all scary but I would rather just deal with the short-term pain rather than the long-term. The economy needs to evolve and weed out corrupt business practices rather than keeping them afloat.
