Re: I want the RNCs personal shopper, too!

The Obama group has come out with all these frugal shopping things now. They say that campaign funds have not been used for anything except makeup/hair before interviews on events. I was surprised at how they went at this, actually. I figured people in glass houses....but I guess that's not the case. I think they've paid for their own stuff. Michelle's been mentioning her Target dress and the dress she wore on the View was from Black Market/White House for under 200 bucks. Just saying.

Apparently all of the other candidates and their spouses have paid for their own clothes. The McCains, the Obamas and the Bidens.

I guess I was expressing my point clumsily, my main issue was with how she's portrayed as this Jane Sixpack-kind of person, and then they dress her in full-on designer power suits and high heels. I meant no disrespect towards republicans at all. That said, I would imagine that my foreigner's stereotype of republican women is that they'll be dressed in expensive and conservative business outfits. Of course I do realize most of them/you don't fall into that category, however.

Sure, ask the foreigner intricate questions about why they made the outfit-choices they made! For what it's worth, I can imagine that they wanted her style to differ a bit from Clinton and made conscious choices based on that.

Holy 80's reference, Angie! I'd love to know who gets it w/o googling her. My guess: DCJenn, Lily, Annie (she had her wild 'n crazy days ..), maybe Cumberland???

FWIW, I would have given the RNC HUGE points if they HAD sent their personal shoppers to TJ Maxx. At the very least they shouldn't have gone to Needless Markup, just b/c common sense says it will come out and be made into a huge deal.
          It's Pierson, isn't it? I <3 her.

DH told me he saw something that said at least one of the dresses Michelle Obama wore recently was sub-$200, from White House, Black Market. I <3 that store, too.

I wonder if "given to charity" means the Palin clothing will end up on ebay?

I also wonder if that was really the plan all along, or the damage control answer. As I said, I really don't have an issue w/the RNC buying stuff for her - even if the other candidates bought their own. She and her family were thrown into this, and not many people (even a governor) have the wardrobe to head out on the trail ... I just think they were stupid about what stores they chose to shop in. They could have scored a bunch of points with 'middle America' if they'd made more reasonable choices.
