No way! Really? How do you turn down something like that?!

On a different note, bucking Obama's call for reaching across the aisle in the spirit of "bipartisanship," Reid has made an appointment with Lieberman for later this week and is expected to strip him of his committee leadership position. Revenge is petty and sweet, apparently.

Bah. I don't envy Obama. Keeping the House/Senate in check will be necessary and difficult. I was wondering if that's why he tapped Emanuel. He sounds like someone that cracks the whip and doesn't get along with all the Dems either. I think you might need to play hardball to keep a new majority Dem Congress in check if you were trying to be bipartisan.

I'd imagine that Lugar didn't want to defect? I can see that being a problem for Republicans that see a future in the party vacuum right now. Stepping in to an Obama administration would be a hit to your chances in the Republican power structure - unless things go very, very well and partisanship disappears entirely.

Well, Liberman didn't exactly win back friends with the speech at the Republican Convention, either.

We'll see. Personally, I have faith that this administration is going to look and act much differently than any of the others we've seen before.

I'd be surprised if this administration is much different in practice than any others throughout U.S. history.

The problem is so many Americans don't know the history of their own country's elections and presidencies.

"Partisanship" is the name of the game. Pollyanna is right - the bipartisan stuff is crap. And, it's actually contrary to how a democracy works to begin with.

If we are going to predict Obama's future actions based upon his past actions this will be the most liberal administration since possibly Jimmy Carter.

Now, he may decide to just throw away all of his past inclinations and behaviors. But, I don't think so. You see, he's the winner in all of this so he will act in any manner HE desires. That's the way it works.

Anyway, the logical route is to study his past behavior and the past behavior of all the other presidents our nation has had. And, that points to Obama having a highly partisan administration with ultra-liberal appointments.

And, lest anyone be mistaken - that is not said in a panicky tone nor with any emotion behind it really at all. More like "school marm-ish".
