Well...I haven't gotten it yet. I will not contribute but I won't be offended by them asking either. I get solicitations for all kinds of money and I just lump this in with that. Obama's campaign email list and his current "Change.gov" email list are operating separately. I have gotten solicitations to help the DNC pay off its campaign debt from the campaign group - and I'm certain that I will get the Hillary request as well. No doubt the campaign was run by savvy marketing people. They never pass up the opportunity to ask for cash - no matter how crass. DH and I have joked that SNL and the Daily Show could use the ever-present "DONATE" button on the bottom of every email as a great gag. On the night Obama won, we each got an email that said he was on the way to Grant Park, thank you for helping, etc, etc.....and at the bottom there was this big red DONATE button just like every other email. You become oblivious. I think the people that want to donate will; the others will ignore.
OT: That said, the Change.gov emails have not contained any requests for donations. I have gotten a survey about how I'd like to participate in government, all the weekly address videos and a video about healthcare reform with Tom Daschle. Apparently, they sponsered the first of several online conversations about health care recently and the video was reviewing the input. Anyone can participate; consider signing up. DH is almost through the Daschle book already and is on board to do the next "discussion" at Change.com. I think these policy makers desperately need input from physicians....the younger the better. After all, the residents of today will be working in whatever system is proposed for a long, long time.
