I don't know if this is a debate, per se, but the AP Wire is now reporting that Obama has asked Sanjay Gupta to be Surgeon General, and that he will accept.
Sanjay Gupta.
That "neurosurgeon" from Emory who is really a medical Katie Couric. Fluffy, light, and matted with makeup. He gave up being a serious neurosurgeon to be CNN's chief medical correspondent and provide superficial analyis of mass medical issues.
Oh, ugh. His biggest qualification seems to be...the fact that he was a "close medical advisor" to Hillary. Super. He looked at her skin blemishes, attended DC parties, and is now the Surgeon General.
Seriously...wasn't there someone with a MPH or something that could bring some...experience and gravitas to the role?
Well...at least it's not as bad a gaffe as Leon Panetta...what was he THINKING on that one? After all those really solid nominations (I mean, hey--even Richardson seems to have been handled well, in the way he withdrew).
