I just thought it was interesting that she took a test every month since they got married. I guess they really are anti-birth control but I would think if you got married at 19 and 20, you might be able to use the rhythm method or something to have a few months together before starting!Married to a Urology Attending! Well, I guess they were hoping for a blessing. They are part of the Quiverfull movement which advocates for having many, many children.
I was wondering why she kept taking tests? I mean, was she late every month?Wife and #1 Fan of Attending Adult & Geriatric Psychiatrist.

Oh, I'm totally in sympathy with early testing. Who has the patience to wait until you're actually late?Married to a hematopathologist seven years out of training.

I think they're pretty cool too. Even if you don't agree with their values completely, it's neat to see a family stay out of debt and live the way they choose. I was wondering though if it's realistic to imagine all 18 kids growing up, staying out of debt, etc. (one of their principles is NO debt). It's almost impossible in this country to go to college without debt unless your parents are very rich or you win a full schloarship. I know the eldest did not attend college but what if some others want to? I just hope they can be flexible and understand good debt vs. bad debt.Married to a Urology Attending!
