Costco is our staple for household cleaners, fem hygiene products, toiletries, flea/tick preventative, and DH's undershirts. He just likes that he can buy them in bulk.
I love the sales on wine and produce - it's also great for affordable party supplies, etc.

Costco, definitely. They carry 2lb blocks of Tillamook extra-sharp white cheddar. In Ohio. That taste of home alone is enough to make me keep my membership, but we (just two of us) go regularly, and hardly ever get out for less than $100, and as Jenn mentioned, their return policy is awesome. Just got coupons yesterday, will probably go again next weekend.

DH is happy if we get out for less than $300. But we buy the big box of Pull-Ups, vitamins, OTC meds, etc.

When we lived in Denver, we shopped at both, but I remember switching to Costco when we moved to Seattle. We must have shopped at Costco when we visited my parents in the suburbs of Denver. Anyway, I found Costco to be much cleaner, better selection and better product for your money than Sam's Club.

We still have our Costco membership in our current location. It's a been a while since we have set foot in Sam's Club, and one was opened up 30-45 minutes from our home, but the drive alone is not worth it to me. Costco is 30 minutes from home, and when I add up the gas to and from, I almost should just shop at our local grocery store. There are some things that I can't live without from Costco: my kids love the Z Kid Clif Bars (as do I), dh's whey protein powder, paper towels, toilet paper, Kirkland environmentally friendly clothes detergent (cheaper than Tide and works just as good). A lot of Costco's organic products are cheaper than what I can purchase at my local grocery store.

As much as I love Costco, you should look into amazon subscribe and save for the things you listed out, Crystal. You could get nearly all of them 15% off/case & free delivery.

            /end infomercial.

We shop at both. bec. we have memberships through family. One day we went straight from Sam's to Costco. I honestly cannot tell the difference, but I'm also not into gourmet food so maybe that's why. But we did return a waffle maker to Coscto from my dad with no problem. We had no receipt and they gave us $50 cash.

Costco! Costco is our weekly grocery shopping trip. Not that there's much choice - there are no Sam's in Alberta, so the only competition is an "outlet" version of The Real Canadian Superstore.

I like the fruit and the fact that they'll STOP CARRYING things that are out of season instead of jacking up the price 4x for bruised stuff, like Safeway does.

amazon offers 'subscribe & save' for a myriad of items, where if you 'subscribe' you get 15% off per case. You can cancel your subscription at anytime (so do it once and never again), you always get warnings before your next shipment and you can log in to delay, cancel, or do nothing and it is sent. I order dd's diapers, wipes, Pirate Booty, kid Z-bars, laundry detergent ... and random other stuff from time to time.

There are 2 things I look for when looking at prosepective houses: nearest Costco and nearest Starbucks.

                                Need I say more?

We actually don't have to pay membership bc we are *executive members* and we get back every year from the membership. (I think you get 2% back or something from total in store purchases if you are an executive membership).

I am limiting myself to 2-3 visits per month. Meat is much cheaper and better quality at Costco than other places. I price compare, too. I have found that the sale price at some discount stores is about the same as the price at Costco, in general. I have only been to Sams a couple of time, and I just dont' like it. I can't stand Walmart, either. It's just something about it... And Costco does a better job or retaining their workers. I actually know the checkers at Costco and so I know which line to go to.

We get contacts thru Costco (cheaper than the military base option). DVDs, some books, CDs, video games-- always price compare. We usually find a better price elsewhere (a sale at Toys R Us or Best Buy usually beats Costco).
                                Peggy

Aloha from paradise! And the other side of training!
