  • Drivers who do not signal

I'm curious about this...do you signal:

    1. When you change lanes?
    2. When you make a right turn?
    3. When you turn from a turn only lane?

I highly doubt this is just Dallas drivers, but this has been seriously pissing me off lately. I've started paying attention to other drivers and it seems about 30-50% of the time, they do not signal. I'm getting tired of having to anticipate it and to me it just reeks of extreme laziness.

The excuse I hear most often is: "When I signal, the person in the other lane just speeds up so I cannot get over." Rude? Yes. A legitimate excuse? No.

I always signal. I just figured all the new fancy cars have broken turn signals.

I always signal - then I laugh at myself when I'm in a situation when no one else was around

I signal 99% of the time. When I don't, it's usually when I'm turning right from a turn only lane.

Drivers who leave their turn signal on bother me as much as those who don't signal at all. Also drivers who wait until the last minute to signal just as they switch lanes.

Haha V, it does seem like there is a correlation sometimes! Especially with black, newer model BMWs. I don't get it.

I signal. Even when turning into my driveway when I'm the only car around.

Haha! I catch myself doing this, too! And in parking lots when there's no one around. I'd answer yes to all of the above. I also got irritated at the Dallas drivers; I think it's worse there than OKC.

I'm a signaler and get pissed when folks don't. I almost got side swiped at 5 this morning on the way to the airport. Some idiot decided to just switch lanes into me. Maybe if he at least signaled I could have better avoided the near collision. People are too lazy and distracted when driving.

You mean this isn't a problem that only occurs in the northeastern US??!

I signal all the time. Even though most people here don't know how to use it. I know they teach it in driver's ed and in driving school, but somehow they lose the skill as they get older. I don't get it.

This drives me nuts. I have tried to keep my signal on behind these people, hoping they would look in the rearview and figure out theirs was still on. But nothing works.

                        This is a Dallas-driver issue.

I will often forget to sign when in the "must turn" lane. I don't see the point, I've got nowhere else to go.

I learned to drive in Brooklyn but the highway between Austin and San Antonio scared me.

As a recent transplant from car hell (L.A.) to Dallas, I have to say that people *do* seem to be more aware and friendlier.
HOWEVER... This whole "I-will-not-yield, even-if-the-sign-says-I-should" thing is my new peeve. Haven't had any serious signaling issues yet.
Maybe it's just my own personal attitude of "oh no you didn't!" that keeps things from going all kinds of crazy.
I'm a big believer in signaling.

                              I miss my suburban bubble.

The turn only lane doesn't bother me...I was just curious. It bothers me when people don't in a straight or turn lane because Dallas allows right turns on red and it makes getting on the highway a PITA every morning.
