  • Are bullets a hot commodity where you are???

Our state has literally gone rabid with fear about gun control. You cannot find bullets for guns anywhere. My hubby has joined the giant lines at Academy to get his 3 boxes of bullets a few times. He said the line is huge. ( It is only certain days a week and the line starts forming for when they open at 7.) Many of these people that are doing it are police officers. They think Obama is going to put a tax on lead and make the price of bullets go sky high as a form of gun control. Interesting..

We've only seen a shortage on certain types of ammo, but I haven't seen huge lines or anything. Places have been out of stock since shortly after the Newtown incident.

You probably wouldn't see lines because here they form at 5 or 6 am and are gone by 8am. For Walmart, a police officer was telling us when the gun stock and bullets come in. They know and so the and all there buddies show up. Huge stockpiling is taking place...

I haven't heard about it here. If all else fails, my dad makes his own... "A country boy can survive!"

Our police friends with federal licenses to sell have bought tons of weapons that they're waiting to release. Prices and demand continue to rise, and the same people made a good deal of money when the first assault weapons "ban" was announced and went into effect.

It is all over our state... We are a very independent state... having been our own country.. We really don't like feds telling us what to do. I think if you investigated you would actually find it happening more, you are just unaware of it. Call your local Walmart and ask if they have any 22 shells.. We've had some acquaintances that went to another state to visit family and couldn't find any there either.

I agree with LW - if you aren't looking for it, you won't notice it

Not that I know of here, but like you've said, it may be because I'm not in those circles. I'm a peace and love hippy Quaker, basically. I figure I'll be one of the first to go in the coming Armageddon!! (That said, I do stockpile food, water and blankets in the basement.)

                  Angie,

So am I . We have a lot of guns, but I don't know how to shoot any of them, nor will I learn. I would rather be shot than shoot someone. I couldn't live with killing another human being. And yep, I've stockpiled the food supplies!!! We could live for a couple of months for sure. Well, actually longer than that. We could fish from our ponds, kill our cattle, shoot the deer on the property, birds, squirrels, etc. We could live for quite awhile.

                    No shit.

We live in the middle of prime farming and hunting country. EVERYONE is armed to the teeth and no, there aren't any massive stockpiles. Well, anymore than usual. We're not that far from some asswipe Aryan Nation compounds, so they kind of skew the "normal".

This was so my reaction until we moved "out west."

I do not have first hand knowledge but I would guess that locally that is true here as well. We are a conceal carry state as well as a large hunting state. As LM said my dad would be fine if he had the supplies to make his own but I have no idea if he has bought more lately. We do not have guns in our house though both DH and I would be able to fire one if necessary.

If DH wasn't on SWAT, I don't think we'd have any clue about how much this is going on. Now that he is, we probably have a skewed perspective in the opposite direction, assuming everyone is stockpiling, living in drug houses, etc.
