  • Obesity - interesting observations

I don't know if this is actually a debate, but thought I'd put it here just in case. I found the sheer number of different forces potentially involved in increasing our propensity toward obesity to be fascinating. A few of them I hadn't heard about before, and putting them all together, his argument that overemphasis on personal responsibility is misguided seems to have some merit. None of this says that any particular individual CAN'T overcome whatever bad hand they were dealt, but it's disheartening to see just how difficult genetics and environment can make it, and the fact that lab animals on controlled diets and exercise have been getting heavier over the decades flies in the face of "a calorie is a calorie", for sure.

Gut inflammation and impaired inner ecosystem (gut bacteria) are possible culprits. Something is definitely up...and really hurting us!

I really want to go to the seminar, but I'm covering summer camp on the day it's being presented in town. I think there is a homestudy option.
