I found the video of the whole segment. 3 pictures of Obama where they made fun of the picture and pointed out what right wing commentators had said. One picture of Michele where they pointed out how the media was silly for focusing on her bangs. And then to include the GOP the picture of Romney with his black granddaughter.... There are silly and unflattering photos photos of republicans along the lines of the pictures of Obama-- with foreign leaders and at public events and such. Really someone should have put the brakes on using this picture at all. It definitely didn't fit in to the whole segment.... Not to mention how racist it is of course.

I just LOVE the news coverage of this "news created" story...instead of calling it what it is, they are making EXCUSES for it. **Well, Republicans made fun of how ugly Chelsea Clinton was in 1993.** Oh, yeah. That DEFINITELY excuses making fun of the Romney family. It's the usual. Look at the white person. He's not a liberal, so his intent must be laughable. He's just a grandpa holding his grandchild.

I certainly don't like everything about Mitt Romney or his politics--just like I didn't like everything about George W and his politics. And I detest almost everything about Obama's politics. But the longer I know of them and about them, the more I like them as families. They seem like genuine families of loving people. (Loving families, by all accounts and appearances, with involved parents and devoted spouses.) Some of the MSNBC commentators are so full of condescension and hate and elitism that they cannot even seen the commonality of the human experience in their "enemies."

I am stumped by this as the person in question appears to be bi-racial... What the hell is wrong with people for targeting innocent kids. And really? A baby that can barely sit up on its own is the embodiment of innocence. (Unless said baby does.not.sleep.)

I think the person that made the comment (I think they sang the song "one of these things is not like the other..") was not a commentator but a comedian who was a guest on the show. Still, you have to wonder why they'd put that photo in as something to "discuss". Obviously, that going nowhere good.

I just didn't see what was comment worthy in that photo...I wouldn't have really noticed enough to make a fuss.

People are dumb. They had to know that would raise controversy so part of me wonders if that was their goal (though to what end, I don't know… It almost feels like they don't approve of a Republican doing an interracial adoption...)

Melissa perry-Harris, who is really obnoxious a lot of the time--but who did not make the worst of the comments in this situation--issues a pretty unequivocal apology today. The apology was posted on Twitter (which Kind of seems insufficient, given that the remarks were made on TV, but that aside...). To her credit, she made no excuses.

I don't watch the news because, well obviously there's so much BS, but what really gets under my skin is all of the mud slinging. Liberal channels make fun of Fox, Fox gets up in arms about things the Liberals say, it's tiresome. I feel enough frustration over resolving issues with people of differing viewpoints, I compulsion to lend my ear to such petty grievances. This country has such a dynamic range of viewpoints, from the extreme right to extreme left, I just wish news channels focused more on finding common ground. Plus, I do think by audiences being exposed to newsmen getting up in arms about such BS things they become desensitized to when real issues arise (as if news channels truly address real issues.)

I do have to say the thought of a black child in the middle of Romney's huge white family does make me chuckle. I'm not sure why. But good for freaking them! They're defying the whitey conservative stereotype and as a bleeding heart Librul that makes me love them a little bit more, and remember the true complexity of human life. It's not just red and blue.

I'm more interested in finding common ground and understanding with those of opposing view points. Not in hopes for some middle of the road culture that sees eye to eye, but to learn to how to live at peace with people of radically opposing viewpoints.

Yup^^^ What mapplebum said. I can only imagine my FB friends posting this if it had been said about a democratic candidate. Ugh - as LSW said, stupid is stooooopid. There is good and there is baaaaad on both sides. Friends that only see one side scare the political affiliation out of me.
