  • Amanda Knox is convicted again for murder

I find this to be appalling. I'm usually very skeptical of innocence in a court of law. Most of the time, I feel like if you are charged of a crime, you are guilty.

    Not here.

She was a young, weird girl with a boyfriend who did young, stupid, naïve things, but not murder. You cannot murder someone and remove all the evidence that you participated and leave a bunch of evidence that someone else did it. She is innocent.

What are the chances the US will extradite her if Italy asks for it? And poor Rafaelle Sallecito!

Wow. I was wondering about this. I hope she isn't extradited too. What the hell.

I know nothing about the law, but a CNN article said it was very unlikely she would be extradited. Something to do with double jeopardy.

I'm with you Heidi, I cannot believe this. Well, I kind of can because the Italian court system seems a bit wonky but I don't believe she is guilty.

            They'll appeal yet again.

FWIW, Italian courts are a hot fucking mess.

The article I read said it would automatically be decided by their supreme court and that like mentioned the US would probably not extradite her b/c of double jeopardy. Its ridiculous - lets just keep retrying people until we get the verdict we want ?!?!?!

Just saw this on the news...that whole case was messed up and I don't think they'll extradite her. Good grief, I don't think she's guilty either and to think the real killer may be getting away with it is chilling.

I think there is a real chance she was involved. She wasn't found innocent and retried. Her conviction was overturned on a DNA technicality of sorts. Again, she wasnt found innocent and then tried until they got the right verdict. Her behavior around that time was also quite bizarre. I remember reading about her doing some sort of gymnastics at the police station and making out with her boyfriend after questioning.

I think instead of jumping onto the 'she is innocent' bandwagon, we should consider the evidence that the italian courts have against her.

Of course the US won't extradite her. We demand that other countries follow our extradition laws ... but consider ourselves in a class above.

I read an article this morning that said there was even less evidence presented in this case though - they didn't enter the knife into the trial ??

I also read an article this morning that says if Italy does ask for her extradition the US will have a hard time denying it...

I lean towards her being not guilty, BUT I do think she was a terribly naive and awkward young woman when she went. She was in the wrong place at the wrong time, doing the wrong thing. I've studied abroad twice, and feel that you've got to walk the straight and narrow when you're in another country, which she absolutely DID NOT DO.

I'm not one to usually jump to "INNOCENCE!" when cases are tried, but it's pretty difficult to commit a crime and leave literally zero evidence of your even having been there. Particularly, when the crime scene is such a messy, grisly one.

The Italians may not formally request her extradition. It depends on which relationship they care about more: the one with the US or the one with Great Britain (the victim was British). I suspect they'd rather deal with pissed off Brits than have to be told by Secretary of State Kerry that the US will not subject its citizens to what is, essentially, double jeopardy by our standards. I suspect that Kerry would preview them to this, and they will simply decline to request extradition. Everyone will come up with some way to play it out politically so they can save face at home. Of course, she won't be able to travel pretty much anywhere in Europe ever again. Interpol will pick her up.
